The team at CEESEP works under the leadership of Dr. Kadoukpè Gildas Magbondé. He holds a Master's degree in Political Science from the University of Abomey-Calavi (Benin), a Master's in Applied Macroeconomics from the same university, and a Ph.D. in International Economics from the University Gaston Berger (Senegal). His passion for impact evaluations of public policies led him to successfully pursue a second Master's in International Economics and Development at the University of Namur (Belgium) and the Catholic University of Louvain (Belgium), funded by the Academy for Research and Higher Education (ARES). He then embarked on a second Ph.D. in Development Economics at the University of Cape Town in South Africa, refining his skills in impact evaluation of public policy.
Fully funded by the International Development Research Centre (IDRC), his second thesis focused on evaluating a comprehensive intervention initiated by the Government of Senegal, including the Programme d’Urgence de Développement Communautaire (PUDC). In collaboration with researchers from the University of Cape Town (UCT), University Gaston Berger (UGB), Cheick Anta Diop University (UCAD), and the Fundamental Institute of Black Africa, Dr. Kadoukpè Gildas Magbondé assessed the impact of providing clean water and electricity on the well-being of rural populations in Senegal who benefited from the first phase of the PUDC in 2016.
Dr. Kadoukpè Gildas Magbondé possesses a thorough mastery of impact evaluation techniques for projects, programs, and policies, particularly in the econometrics of experimental and quasi-experimental methods. He has worked as a consultant for the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) and the World Bank (Benin), and has been an associated researcher at Cornell University (USA), the University of Sussex (England), the University of Neuchâtel (Switzerland), and the German Institute for Development and Sustainability (Germany). He is also the author of several scientific articles published in peer-reviewed journals.
